The porcelain factory at Sèvres was renowned for high quality. Owned by the King of France, it manufactured products used in royal palaces and given as valuable official state gifts. The cerulean colour of the collection’s bowl is typical of the factory, even being named Sèvres blue. The bowl is decorated with sumptuous bird and flower ornamentation, with a green-and-red cabbage leaf motif around the edge.
