Jean-Jacques Verdier, Paris, France, c. 1750.

Wood, glass, enamel, bronze, gilt.

76,0 cm x 39,0 cm x 18,0 cm.

The body of this Rococo timepiece is wooden, and it is decorated with abundant plant and shell motifs. The dial plate is enamelled and bears both Arabic and Roman numerals. While this has been used as a table-top clock, it may originally have included a wall-mounted console.
