Tea caddy

Meissen, Germany, c. 1730–1733.

Porcelain, gilt.

11,0 cm x 8,5 cm x 5,0 cm.

The angular shape of this tea caddy shows the influence of Chinese art objects. The sides are painted with battle scenes, with floral motifs towards the top. Tea caddies were an element of table settings, often as part of a dinner service.
